La Caramela
A celebration cake is hard to explain over the phone: everyone pictures it differently. We built the pastry shop a site with a 3D workshop where guests assemble the cake themselves, and the pastry chef gets a sketch instead of a retelling.

The task
“Three tiers, delicate, with berries” — the guest and the pastry chef picture different cakes behind those words. Every clarifying call takes time, and a mistake only shows at the party.

How we did it
05 · step

- Step 01
Build the cake by hand
The workshop offers one to three tiers, each set up on its own; the shape is round, square or a heart. A cutaway shows the filling layers, colours come from the catalogue or are picked freely, then come decor, borders, toppers and an inscription.
- Step 02
Your own picture on the cake
The guest uploads an image for edible printing and sees it on the cake in the scene straight away. The browser shrinks heavy phone photos by itself, so the request stays light.
- Step 03
A sketch, not a purchase
The scene openly calls itself an approximation: the request starts a conversation with the pastry chef rather than placing an order. There is no payment and no automatic price on purpose — a person confirms the price and the date.
- Step 04
The draft is never lost
The design survives moving between pages, switching language, undo and redo. Where WebGL is missing, an SVG sketch takes the place of the 3D, so a request can be sent from an older phone too.
- Step 05
Words work too
Not in the mood to build? Describing the occasion and the number of guests and attaching a reference photo is enough. For an idea based on a photo there is a separate brief: what to keep, what to change.
The 3D workshop: a six-step constructor; the cake turns, opens in a cutaway and expands to full screen. Guests need no account — just a way to be reached.

Try the site
Build your own cake: tiers, shape, the filling in cross-section and the decoration — the scene turns right in the window.
What the client keeps
03A request admin
Allow-listed staff, requests with statuses, catalogue, lead times, photos.
A request as a record
The cake's spec is frozen when sent: editing the catalogue doesn't alter old requests, and sending twice doesn't create a duplicate.
A bridge to delivery
The restaurant section links to La Caramela's page on KERI — food can be ordered there today.
